Domestic Diane does it Again

She's done it again. Our very own domestic goddess has banked another £60 for Oxfam by hosting a very successful Jamie at Home party and donating a large portion of the proceeds. Thanks Diane, and keep on twinkling!

And a big thanks to Jamie Oliver too. Do you think he might come down to Sussex and be part of our crew? We could certainly do with some of his top nosh after walking 100km. Well, anyway, thanks Diane and Jamie. And congratulations to Tracey on winning £50 worth of Jamie Oliver's equipment.

Car Boot Sale, Brisco

We now have over £125.00 paid in to Oxfam through Justgiving. Our Car Boot Sale at Brisco this morning raised a total of £27.40 and we enjoyed it so much we are going to do another one in a few weeks. Sitting in the sunshine, watching the world go by, meeting friends and making money for Oxfam/Gurkha welfare Trust into the bargain. What could be better? (No need to answer that...)

Statistically £125 is 5% of our target of £2,500. And we've achieved that in just a week! We need to raise just £7 a day each for the remaining 89 days left before July 18th and we will reach our target. That actually sounds fairly reasonable.
In the photo is Sam trying to scare people into buying...

We are now on page 9 of the Oxfam Trailwalker Sponsor a Team link. We have already raised over £70 and we only signed up 5 days ago. Brilliant work, guys! We can start collecting off line donations too now the sponsor forms have arrived. Remember you can contact Oxfam on events@oxfam.org.uk

Keep walking!

Easter Egg Hunt

What a star Diane is. She organised a brilliant Easter Egg Hunt in Dalston yesterday, raising £70.00, half of which she has donated to Oxfam/GWT. About a dozen families came along to join in the fun and follow the trail round the village, finding bunny footprints and solving anagrams on the way round. Caroline and Hannah painted faces and Sam hid little Easter chicks around the Jubilee Gardens for the younger children to look for. The weather stayed dry and we all had great fun. Well done, Diane!
Training tonight! Wahay!

Climb Every Mountain!

We thought Sussex couldn't be any hillier than Cumbria. But look at this! It looks like Warnell Fell. Better get some hill practise in!

Signed up and raring to go!

We are the Caldew Wanderers - Judy, Diane, Alison and Lee. We are all really excited because we have just signed up for Trailwalker UK 09. What this means is that we have pledged to raise £2,500 for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust by walking 100km in 30 hours. Tough, yes. But we have old boots that are tougher and we are so happy to be part of this fabulous event.

We signed up on Easter Day so we have 3 months to get up to fitness, physically and mentally. Ali and Lee have been dragging their dog round Burgh Marsh and Diane and I have been out on our bikes in the sunshine of this lovely Easter weekend. And we are having our first team walk on Wednesday in Caldbeck.

We all live in north Cumbria and are all connected in some way with Caldew. The river Caldew rises in the northern fells of the Lake District and rushes down through Caldbeck before reaching a steadier pace as it winds its slow way through Dalston and joins the river Eden in Carlisle. The Caldew has also given its name to a comprehensive school in Dalston.

Anyway, that's a bit about us. We are thrilled to be walking for Oxfam and GWT and okay, a bit daunted too, but that's what it's all about, innit?
